My Friend Karen Olga George

August 23rd, 2008

A letter to friends about Karen.

Some of you in this email didn’t know Karen personally but you sent your wishes and prayers and asked to be kept posted.  Those that do know Karen personally and are interested in arrangements that info will be coming; Michael is waiting for family to arrive and he is a bit overwhelmed right now as can be expected. The world has lost one of the bravest and strongest persons I have ever met in my life.  Karen died this morning at home with her husband Michael at her side.  I was just with Karen last night and she knew I was there and would try to raise her hand to let me know she knew that I was there.  She truly fought until the end.  Karen was 33 years old born on 3/13/75.  Karen will truly be missed by all those she touched and from what I’ve been learning lately she touched people from coast to coast.  Not many of us in this world will get to meet a woman (person) like Karen and I considered it an honor and privilege to call her friend.

Thank you all for your kind words that you have asked me to share with Karen and Michael during this ordeal and I know Karen would have written each of you a personal note thanking you if she had been able to write.  That is just the kind of woman she was.  I hope I apply the lessons that Karen taught me about life and I don’t let her down.

I’ll try to keep you all posted via email but I’m going to be spending time over at Karen and Michaels house next couple of days so I won’t have regular access to my email so call if you need to reach me quickly.

Thank you all again for your kind words.

One thing to take away from this is that if a doc says to you or your loved one that it’s only a cyst and not to worry about it; go to the Mayo (or the next best hospital) and get checked out thoroughly make them be 100% sure the growth is not cancerous.  When you catch it early enough it is almost 100% curable.  SOMAD (Karen’s charity) will continue to exist; our goal is that no one will ever have to see a loved one go through what Karen went through ever again.  I don’t think we will be able to get an event scheduled for this October (breast cancer awareness month) with all that has been going on with Karen’s battle but I promise SOMAD will in the news for an event next October at the latest and we will keep Karen’s wish alive…  That no woman in today’s day in age should die from Breast Cancer.  And the scary thing is that over 44,000 women die each year that is the size of a small city and it must be stopped.

Okay folks I’ll keep you updated as I get info but again just call me if you would like.

Peace to all,  Colin

Back again

November 21st, 2006

I just realized I have not posted anything on this site for over seven months so I thought I should update this a bit.

Pin-up Girls is fully up and operational that does not mean I will not be changing the look of the site I have a real nice template or theme as they call it in the Wordpress world but all the text is in Dutch and that does take sometime to translate it all and make other modifications.  Since I am no expert on this stuff it is all a learning curve.  But I have made fairly significant changes to pin-up girls so please go check it out.  I have  special section where I feature pin-up girl books which is still growing and a store that sells all sorts of merchandise again which still needs to grow.  I still need to add more content overall but that will be a never ending process.  I try to do something to it atleast once a week or so to keep up on it and hopefully don’t get put in the Google sandbox trust me you don’t want that to happen if you can help it.

I decided to make a change to this site.  I may have to dump the blog idea for this site although I would like to try to incorporate it into the new look.   I don’t have a complete plan yet as to what exactly I will do with it however I need to do something.  I will spend some time over this Thanksgiving holiday to work on it but I am thinking the first of the year to move forward.  You never know though I could get on a roll and redo the whole thing this weekend.

Where have I been?

April 11th, 2006

I have to admit I’ve been lazy lately and have not put forth the effort I need to. I do think about it but just seem to always have something get in the way. The weekends have been beautiful of late and it makes it extreamly hard to work.

I have been thinking about getting in the insurance game. It would be a perfect addition to Driving Mexico. I just need to do the research on what it takes to be a licensed insurance agent. Once that happens I will sell Mexican insurance on line and hopefully get me a bit closer to that retirement money.

You know the main rule for going into business to sell it. And that is what I would like to do. Create a good website that has the traffic and inbound links. Get it making some money for me and then sell it to someone for a fair price. God I love this country and the fact that capitalisum is promoted. Anyway back on point.

I have not done much of anything with Pin Up Girls lately. I really need to sit down and make some pages and get more merchandise up and going. I’ve got a really good plan here I just don’t have all the knowledge to work this Wordpress platform and make it do all that I know it can. But it is powerful and easy to use I highly recomend trying it.

Realestate…

I am so close to having my licesnse for that but I need to take the test. And of course that means I have to study. I was good student in college but I didn’t work 60hours a week then either. I am going to take some vacation days and pay a toutor to get me through what I need to know. That is the only way I am going to be able to get it done. Find out the important things for the test.

Ok I’ll be back later.

The Guru Effect

February 26th, 2006

Jim Cramer

What is the Guru Effect anyway? Basically the guru effect is when a high profile stock anaylist like Jim says that a stock is a good buy or sell the market realizes an immediate effect you can see it in the afterhours trading. An associate of mine is trying a sort of academic experiment with a way to trade stocks.

Have you ever watched Jim Cramer’s Mad Money? It’s a great show and it has taught me new ways to look at the stock market but that’s not what this is about. What they are trying to do over at Guru Effect is see how much of an influecne Mad Money has on the stocks that Jim pushes. I can only speak from anecdotal experiences with trying to buy a stock that Mad Money profiles.

For example; last summer he pushed Sears Holding Company by writing the ticker symbols SHLD on his knuckels so I went and bought a bunch of options that were due to expire in a week a very risky thing to do. I could have lost my shirt. I spent about $1000 per contract if memory serves correctly and made about $800 profit on each one. Not a bad return for a 48 hour investment however it was very unsettling to say the least. I actually jumped out a little too early and could have made even more. But like I said a very risky thing to do.

I think he has something with this experiement and I am going to keep and eye on it maybe even give it a go myself. If I do I will post my results here. Go check out his site if you are interested.

An update for Pinup Girls

February 25th, 2006

We spent several hours today working on Pinup Girls and got quite a bit done. We still need to find a better look and feel for the site but we can live with it for now since there are several pictures up for sale.
